Moscow. A girl dances on the bar at the Hungry Duck, an infamous
bar that in many ways came to symbolize the hedonistic excesses of Russia
during the boom years 1995-1998. Doug Steele, the Canadian owner, introduced
a ladies night whereby only women were allowed in for two hours, and were
given unlimited booze for free. At ten p.m., following a male strip act,
men were allowed in. The scene was, at best, primal.
